On-topic Post: The Best Moments of Dexter (so far)

Here are, off the top of my head and in no particular order, my favorite and the most memorable moments of the TV series Dexter, all the way from Season 1 to 4. All videos link to YouTube. Enjoy!

(major spoilers ahead!)

1. How Dexter steals a glance at the camera at the end of some episodes. Talk about quirky! *melts*

2. The music in every season is amazingly done. Some are unusually bright, others hauntingly beautiful and emotional.

3. In Season 1, when Dexter fears for his life when the little boy who had witnessed him in the junkyard tells the artist what he saw and it turns out to be…Jesus.

4. The British Invasion: Jaime Murray played her messed-up character Lila so well – I totally hate her now. I can’t imagine anyone not wanting to cheer when she died. Definitely one of the most satisfying moments of Dexter! (watch video)

5. “Jesus, Dexter, YOU’RE the Bay Harbor Butcher!” – Sergeant Doakes. BEST. CONFRONTATION. EVER. I will never forget that line. Does anyone else find it funny in a twisted way how Doakes ended up? A total nightmare. But, I mean, he asked for it.

6. Deb’s reaction to Dexter saying he’s going to be a father is absolutely hilarious. I finally found the whole quote in full (credit):
Deb: A baby? A mother****ing roly-poly, chubby-cheeked, sh*t machine? Are you kidding me?
Dexter: I’ve never heard it described in quite those words before, but yeah.

LOL. Another one of my favorite scenes involving Deb is in Season 2, when Dexter imagines what his sister’s response would be if he’d confessed that he was the Bay Harbor Butcher. (watch video)

7. Every moment where Dexter’s little baby was on screen. He is absolutely adorable.

8. Masuka’s one-liners are hilarious and one of the funniest characters of the show – he never fails to make me laugh when he’s on-screen. But his own laugh? Creepy. (watch video)

9. In Season 3, when Dexter realizes that Miguel was actually insincere and that the bloodied shirt he was given contained bovine blood. Then, in a fit of rage, he mentally thrashes his laboratory. (watch video)

10. The last few minutes of Season 4 finale was one of the most intense, most tragic scenes for the whole of the show, and a total, unforgettable, mesmerizing tearjerker. The music made it hauntingly beautiful. (watch video)

So what are your top Dexter moments? Anything I’ve missed out? :)

Thanks for reading!

  5. AAHH I totally adore Dexter! I think you got most of the best scenes though I'm going to add the Thanksgiving scene with Trinity and his family. "I should have killed you when I had the chance!" Love badass Dexter.

  6. Rachel, YES, the Thanksgiving scene was one of the most tense moments of the show. Trinity is a total nutter. :D
